ELECTROCARDIOGRAM

Services

This test is recommended if a:

  • Patient has a heart murmur
  • Patient has had a heart attack
  • Patient has unexplained chest pains
  • Patient has had rheumatic fever
  • Patient has a congenital heart defect or valve problem

    STRESS ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY

    How the Test is Performed

This test is done at a doctors office or in a hospital.

A resting echocardiogram will be done first. This assesses your heart muscle function and function of the heart valves at rest to determine if there are any abnormalities.

Most people will then walk on a treadmill (or pedal on an exercise bicycle). Slowly (about every 2-3 minutes), you will be asked to walk (or pedal) faster and on an incline. It is like being asked to walk fast or jog up a hill.

    Cardiac Catheterization

    What is Cardiac Catheterization?

Cardiac catheterization is a minimally invasive procedure generally employed to diagnose and treat certain heart conditions.Cardiac catheterization allows injection of radio-opaque dye for angiography, measurement of intracardiac pressures and oxygen saturations and also assists the passage of electrophysiological instruments, angioplasty and valvuloplasty balloons.

Based on the placement of the catheter diagnostic cardiac catheterization can be categorized as:

    • Left heart catheterization
    • Right heart catheterization

    PACEMAKER CHECK

    Services

    Pacemaker Check In Nairobi Kenya

A pacemaker is a small unit that helps your heart beat more regularly. It does this with a small electric stimulation that helps control your heartbeat. Your doctor puts the pacemaker under the skin on your chest, just under your collarbone. It’s hooked up to your heart with tiny wires.

You may need a pacemaker to keep your heart beating properly. This helps your body get the blood, oxygen and food that it needs. Some people just need a pacemaker for a short time (like after a heart attack) and may use a kind that’s outside the skin.

The battery unit for this type can be worn on a belt.
